Photography is difficult. We make it easier.

At Aptura Photography, we’ve spent the years it takes to read the manuals, watch the YouTube™ videos, get some great shots, and most importantly, make plenty of mistakes. We have photographed in the harshest environments and planned for some of the most complex adventures. All in the hopes of having amazing experiences and images that express the awe we felt in the moment.

We can’t do the leg work for anyone, but we can help you with the right information and skills to take out into the field and create the photos you imagine!

Our Story

“I’ve been traveling for over half of my life now. The countless memories from these trips, the history, the beautiful things I’ve seen, and the wonderful people I’ve met have been a driving force in my life.

I found myself focusing just as much on photography as the destination itself … and it became an outright passion. I doubled down on learning the craft of photography, honing my fieldcraft for wildlife, seeking out coaches/mentors, and going out daily.

Traveling and photographing in over 30 countries, and in some of the most remote locations, I noticed one common thread … it takes a lot of planning and learning to travel with photography top of mind.

After spending several months thinking about how I could help others have similar experiences, I reached out to my good friends and massively talented photographers, and we brought Aptura Photography to life.

I sincerely hope we can help you on your photography journey. It’s brought me great joy, and I know it will for you too!”

My happy place. My guide in Zimbabwe captured the pure joy of photographing wildlife on safari at golden hour.

Our Services

Learning

Photography is a mix of technical know-how, artistic creativity, and experience. Between our more structured group/private Classes and the open-ended Private Instruction we provide, we can cover it all.

Photography Coaching

Call it a coach or a mentor, having someone to guide you through the process and set you on the right path is invaluable in any practice. We cover the full spectrum from composition, technical skills, wildlife, and field craft, as well as what to do after you get the shots. We offer various durations to suit everyone’s path and budget.

Photography Travel Planning

Each location is different - with varying weather concerns, shooting conditions, challenges, photographic styles, and skills, not to mention planning the actual travel portion. As photographers, we have added concerns when it comes to protecting our gear and ourselves in remote/rugged destinations, traveling with large and expensive luggage, and making sure we bring everything we’ll need (but no more). We can’t say we think of everything, but we’ve definitely seen a lot.

Tours / Workshops

The best way to get better at anything is to go out and do it. But the only thing worse than not practicing, is practicing the wrong way. Join one of our private or group tours to have the opportunity to shoot in a low-stress environment with a guide who can assist you. Our workshops focus on specific photographic methods, skills, species, or environments.

Rentals

We wanted to add rentals to our service offering so we could provide guests with additional experiences that may otherwise be too expensive.
